Position Summary:

Responsible for performing general work and assigned duties of individuals who apply for the WHI Neighborhood Revitalization (NRP) Homeowner Opportunity Program. Assisting applicants that are moderate to low-income families with the opportunity to purchase affordable housing.

Responsibilities:

The duties listed below illustrate the various types of work that may be performed. Undertakes and performs the following and all other work-related duties as assigned.

  1. Assists applicants in completing forms and identifying required documents.
  2. Review applications and documentation for completeness.
  3. Determines whether applicants meet program eligibility requirements.
  4. Checks, reviews, and evaluates credit scores.
  5. Calculates all sources of income and resources to determine applicants' financial eligibility.
  6. Assisting in identifying the targeted areas where building or rehabbing homes are for sale.
  7. Assisting in closing the loan for homes when purchasing through the program.
  8. Periodically reviews applicant files, updates prospective information, and places non-respondents in inactive files.
  9. Ensures privacy and maintains security of confidential materials.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Experience in Financial and Banking is required.

Knowledge and Skills:

  1. Some knowledge of budgeting and data processing principles, practices and techniques.
  2. Working knowledge of interviewing techniques and record maintenance.
  3. Working knowledge of the operation of the Agency's computer system and applicable software.
  4. Knowledge of basic math principles sufficient to perform essential job functions.
  5. Ability to meet and deal tactfully and courteously with the public.
  6. Ability to understand and follow moderately complex written and oral instructions and communicate and relate to persons of diverse backgrounds and abilities.

Supervisor Controls:

The employee receives instructions from the WHI Housing Manager. The employee has no supervisory responsibilities.

Physical Requirements:

An employee must meet the physical demands described here to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

  1. Work is principally sedentary but may involve some physical exertion, such as kneeling, crouching, or lifting to obtain files, records, and office supplies, and eyestrain from working with computers and other office equipment.
  2. Must be able to sit or stand for up to eight (8) hours at a time while performing work duties.
  3. Must be able to bend, stoop, push, and pull in the performance of office-related duties.
  4. Must be able to use fingers bilaterally and unilaterally to operate office equipment.
  5. Must establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and clients and perform essential job functions in an environment that sometimes increases stress levels.
  6. Must maintain a professional appearance and portray a positive image for the Agency.
  7. Must be able to maintain punctuality and attendance as scheduled.
  8. An employee may request reasonable accommodation to mitigate any of the physical requirements listed above.

Other Requirements:

  1. Must possess a valid driver's license and a good driving record.
  2. Must pass employment drug screening and criminal background check.
  3. Must work with the highest degree of confidentiality.
